Application For Guides

How to apply to become a member.

Please choose the appropriate application forms and options provided. If you do not have Adobe PDF Reader installed on your computer, you may download it from Adobe.com. Please scan and email your application and supporting documents to membership@proguides.co.nz.

Include the following supporting documents with your application form:

  • If a New Zealand Citizen, a copy of page one of your passport or your Citizenship Certificate
  • If not a New Zealand Citizen, a copy of your permanent residency visa
  • A positive reference from your employer or tour operator hiring you (ProGuides NZ will contact your nominated referee)
  • A copy of your current First Aid Certificate.

It is desirable that you have at least some experience working as a guide or you have achieved a qualification in Tourism (Guiding) and/or any other outdoor qualifications.

If you do not meet this set of criteria, we recommend you take up associate membership until you can progress to full membership.

Subscriptions

  • A $25 admin fee will be added to all new registrations
  • Renewable by 1st of April each year.
  • The membership fee is payable by direct banking or deposit at ANZ (former National Bank) to the ProGuides New Zealand account number: 06 0705 0330333 00
  • Please always include your name and membership number as reference.
