Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, Roger toured New Zealand in 1988 and decided this beautiful country was his future home.

He then completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Tourism) degree at Lincoln University and two years later married a Kiwi.

His involvement in tourism began in 1992 when he started guiding overseas visitors through New Zealand, sharing his deep love and enthusiasm for the country and environment to the benefit of his groups. In 2001, Heartland Tours (NZ) Ltd was formed and is operated from home base in Amberley, North Canterbury.

Roger is committed to marketing New Zealand as a superb tourism destination, believing that a journey through this country should be a quality unique experience that leaves a lasting impression in the hearts of visitors.
