I have been guiding/driverguing a great variety of tours since 1990. Bustours, VIP tours, tramping (hiking) tours, special interest tours like wine, railway etc, individuals, small groups, large groups, tours for German or English language speakers.

I am also the founder and first chairperson of ProGuides, our national professional association, and the creator of a training programme for tour guides at the then Nelson Polytechnic School of Tourism. Apart from running this National Certificate programme one of my main responsibilities was the liaison with local iwi (Maori tribes) and leading marae visits for the School of Tourism.

I have always taken pride in preparing visitors thoroughly for personal encounters with Maori culture, like marae visits, and in presenting the Maori side of our colonial history, essential for an understanding of contemporary New Zealand.
